I love seeing images of fireworks around the world in celebration of the New Year. Not only are they awesome sights, but they also remind us that people everywhere have a custom in common, standing outside to express happiness and excited hope for the new year. It seems that no matter what is happening on the ground, people take a moment to look into the sky. Even in Ukraine, people paused to celebrate with sparklers; what a wonderful sight.
